Hoshiarpur, March 27:(TTT) As part of the Punjab Government’s ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh’ campaign, the District Administration, in coordination with the District Police, demolished the illegally encroached house of a drug peddler in village Nainowal Vaid. The demolition took place in the presence of the Village Panchayat, which welcomed the government’s decisive action.

SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik stated that Gurmeet Kaur w/o Balwinder Singh had illegally encroached on Panchayat land and refused to vacate it despite multiple warnings. Following complaints from the Village Panchayat, the District Development and Panchayats Officer initiated action, leading to the scheduled demolition.
Crackdown on Drug Peddlers

SSP Malik highlighted that Gurmeet Kaur had a history of eight NDPS cases, with convictions in three. He reaffirmed that strict action will continue against those involved in drug trafficking, emphasizing that the Hoshiarpur Police is committed to eradicating the drug menace. He said that the District Police had already attached the property of drug peddlers worth over Rs. 25 crore in the past.
Giving details about the campaign against drugs launched by the State Government from March 1 under Yudh Nashean Virduh, SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik mentioned that the district police had registered as many as 128 FIRs with the arrest of 191 accused while seizing 4 kg intoxicant powder, 8110 intoxicant tablets, 707 grams heroin, 2.306 kg opium and Rs. 23,400 in drug money. He said the crackdown against drug menace and peddlers would remain continue in future too so as to dismantle drug networks in the district.
