During a special conversation with senior journalist Daljeet Ajnoha, Deputy Inspector General Jalandhar Range Harmanvir Singh Gill said that under the campaign against drugs started by the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Singh Mann, taking action against drug smugglers as well as rescuing the youth trapped in the clutches of drugs and rehabilitating them is the main priority.
He told about the activities being done against drugs in the district that the police and civil administration are working together day and night in this campaign. He said that our effort here is to bring out the youth trapped in the quagmire of drugs and rehabilitate them, and also to conduct awareness activities so that more youth do not fall into the trap of drugs. He said that connecting the youth with sports activities is a very important task, for which youth clubs will also be given football, basketball, volleyball and other sports kits in the coming time.
He said that Punjab Police is keeping an eye on the drug dealers and taking legal action, while awareness activities are also being conducted from police station level to district level. He said that committees have been formed in villages so that drug smugglers can be kept under surveillance.
