PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hoshiarpur organizes kisan goshthi on maize cultivation
Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/July 16 (TTT) Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hoshiarpur under the aegis of Directorate of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana and ICAR- Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone-I, Ludhiana recently organized a kisan goshthi on maize cultivation under cluster frontline demonstrations at its campus to promote improved crop cultivation and plant protection practices for maize.
At the outset, Dr. Maninder Singh Bons, Associate Director (Training), KVK Hoshiarpur welcomed the participants and gave an insight into the purpose of the cluster frontline demonstrations on maize. He said that this kisan goshthi was being organized regarding integrated weed and pest management of maize. Dr. Bons also dwelled upon the improved crop production practices including fertilizer and weed management in maize.
Different technical lectures were delivered by KVK Hoshiarpur experts- Dr. Prabhjot Kaur, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection), Dr. Ajaib Singh, Assistant Professor (Agricultural Engineering) and Dr. Karmvir Singh Garcha, Assistant Professor (Vegetable Science) regarding identification & integrated pest management of major pests of maize-maize stem borer & fall armyworm, water conservation techniques in kharif crops and integrated nutrition gardening.
On this occasion, post emergence weedicide- Laudis, pesticide for maize fall armyworm-Missile and PAU literature was provided to the farmers for the conduct of these demonstrations.
