Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hoshiarpur organizes awareness camp for promotion of biofertilizers
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bahowal, Hoshiarpur in collaboration with Department of Microbiology, PAU, Ludhiana organized an awareness camp for promotion of biofertilizers in village Rampur Sainian, block Mahilpur, recently.
At the outset, Dr. Maninder Singh Bons, Associate Director (Training), KVK, Hoshiarpur welcomed the farmers & farmwomen and discussed about the activities of KVK for the welfare of farming community & the purpose of this camp. He exhorted the farmers to adopt resource conservation technologies being advocated by PAU, Ludhiana for the betterment of the environment. Dr. Bons also said that the use of biofertilizers increases grain yield as well as maintains/improves soil health. These biofertilizers are available with the Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana Seed Shop at Gate No. 1 and Krishi Vigyan Kendra/Farm Advisory Service Centres in different districts.
Dr. Keshani, Extension Scientist (Microbiology), Department of Microbiology, PAU, Ludhiana discussed in detail about the use of paddy and maize biofertilizer. She said that for paddy seedling inoculation, mix half kg packet of Azospirillium biofertliuzer with 100 litres of water. Dip the rice nursery seedlings for one acre in this solution for 45 minutes and transplant immediately. For maize, mix half kg packet of recommended consortium bio-fertilizer with one litre of water and then thoroughly mix it with maize seed on clean pucca floor. Let it dry in shade and sow the seed immediately. Dr. Keshani also spoke on the application of water testing kit for drinking purpose.
The participating farm families were also provided paddy & maize biofertilizers and water testing kit for farm & home use under this scheme.
Progressive farmers & farmwoman of the village Rampur Sainian, Sh. Raghbir Singh, Sh. Ujagar Singh, Sh. Dilbagh Singh, Sh. Dalvir Singh, Sh. Taranjit Singh, Sh. Mandeep Singh, Smt. Jaspreet Kaur, etc., participated in this camp.
