India’s referee Jagmohan Vij selected to officiate in World Karate Youth League in Cancun, Mexico.
Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/August 9 (TTT) Internationally renowned Karate coach and International Referee Sensei Jagmohan Vij from India has been recommended by karate India Organisation ( KIO) to officiate in World Karate Youth League to be held in Cancun city of Mexico. He is the only referee from India for this prestigious competition. Around 2100 players, referees and technical officials from more than 80 countries will participate in this championship starting from tomorrow and going on till 12th August. According to Hanshi Bharat Sharma, Executive Member of Asian Karate Federation and President of Karate India Organisation, Karate 1-Youth League established by World Karate Federation under the aegis of Karate 1, is a platform for the development of youth who want to progress in the karate sport. In this World Karate Youth League, which will be organized under the new rules implemented by the World Karate Federation from 2024, instead of flags Joy sticks will be used to indicate points to the players. Secretary of the Referee Commission of the World Karate Federation Sensei Fariba Madani (USA), , Sensei Guido Abdalla, will inform the referees about the new rules.
It is worth noting that Jagmohan Vij is the only referee from North India to have officiated in the Karate Premier League Dubai (2019), Fujairah (2022) and Cairo, Africa (2023) organized by the World Karate Federation in the United Arab Emirates and the Junior World Karate Championship held in Konya, Turkey.
Jagmohan is the first and only karate coach from not only Punjab but also from states like Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir etc. to achieve this feat.
Apart from India, Jagmohan Vij has officiated in more than 65 international and more than 250 state and national level events in Hong Kong, China, Philippines, USA, Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai, Uzbekistan, Italy, France and Turkey. , Vij has combined experience as Chief referee and tournament director, and is known for his impartial judgment. And because of this specialty, he is called as the chief referee or tournament director in various states of India.
