Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/Dec.16(TTT) Senior journalist Daljeet Ajnoha had a special conversation with SSP Surender Lamba IPS on various important issues, in which first of all, regarding the security arrangements during the elections of Municipal Corporation, Nagar Panchayat and Nagar Council to be held on 21st December, he told that elections will be held at four places in the district, including Mahilpur, Hoshiarpur, Tanda and Haryana, for which there are 23 polling booths and about 850 police personnel have been deployed. Apart from this, inter-district, inter-state blockade will be done on the day of polling and all arrangements have been made foolproof in view of the security arrangements in the entire district and 6 booths are sensitive. Similarly, regarding drugs, he told that the district police has registered 450 cases of NDPS during the year 2024 and sent about 700 addicts and drug smugglers to jail. Property worth about Rs 13.5 crore of 17 big drug smugglers has been frozen. There are 12 more big smugglers whose legal action is being taken to freeze property worth about Rs 12.5 crore. Regarding the solution of traffic problem in the district, he told that 50 more traffic personnel will be deployed in the coming new year. He appealed to the people to cooperate with the police against drugs and also warned the addicts and drug smugglers that the property they have made by selling drugs will remain not with them and will go to the government and they will have to go behind bars. Therefore, come to the mainstream in time and live your life well and if a person has become addicted to drugs due to some compulsion and wants to quit drugs, then the police will help him by leaving him in any de-addiction center.
