Two-Day Lecture Series on “Law and Society” Begins at Panjab University, Hoshiarpur
(TTT) A two-day lecture series on “Law and Society” commenced on 23rd September 2024 at the University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Panjab University SSG Regional Centre, Hoshiarpur. Professor Navneet Arora from UILS, Panjab University, Chandigarh, served as the resource person. Dr. Sunaina, Coordinator (Law) and Convenor, along with Dr. DeepChand, Co-convenor, welcomed the guest by presenting a sapling, symbolizing a commitment to a sustainable future.
The event started with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Prof. Navneet delivered an engaging discourse on the topic “Law in Our Lives,” emphasizing the dynamic and reciprocal relationship between law and society, intricately linked with cultural, historical, religious, and social factors. She illustrated her points with examples like the farmers’ protest, the Nirbhaya case, and the R.G. Kar Hospital case, explaining the critical role law plays in everyday life.An Open House Discussion followed, where Prof. Navneet answered students’ questions, making the session interactive and lively. The event concluded with the presentation of a memento to the guest, and a vote of thanks was proposed by the convenors.
